DETAILED TOUR DESCRIPTION
Get picked up at your accommodation in Praia, then depart to Dona Maria Pia Lighthouse. Take stunning pictures from the top of the Lighthouse surrounded by big cannons installed to protect the island from the attack of pirates such as Francis Drake and Jacques Cassard.
Next, forward to the historical center of Plateau and start the walking tour through the Jaime Mota Military Barracks, passing by the Presidential Palace, the Alexandre Albuquerque Square. In the Municipal Market (closed on Sundays), meet locals, and find a diversity of local fruits and vegetables.
Then, explore the largest souvenir market to be found in Cape Verde, Sucupira Market. There, find a little of everything and experience the daily life of the Cape Verdian family. Finish the tour with a special touch of the local gastronomy at Casa Katxupa. There, eat the real country’s national dish, Katxupa, a slow-cooked stew of corn, beans, cassava, and sweet potato, with fish or meat options. It is the most famous dish ever made in Cape Verde.
After lunch, the tour concludes with drop-off at your accommodation in Praia.
